Anne Arin Ekins

Anne Arin Ekins has arrived! Jayne labored spontaneously for the first time and, in short order, we've been blessed with a fourth child and second daughter. She was born at 10:47 pm on Wednesday, June 6th at 9 lbs 10 oz measuring 21 1/2 inches. She's got honey hair and a mild disposition. Jayne is recovering well; we we're discharged Friday morning. It's delight to see a new sibling through the eyes of Ellen, James, and Clark. Anne is a family name, had a solid ring to us, and alludes to a legend about purity from the life of Anne of Bretagne.  Arin is a female version of the Hebrew "Aaron" which can be interpreted "mountain of strength." As we prepared for the beginning of this new life, the image of a mountain in our old Salt Lake neighborhood with a beautiful granite face came to us over and again. We'll give Anne Arin her baby blessing at Church on the 1st Sunday in September; you're all welcome to attend!

Thanksgiving Anonymity

It turns out that Thanksgiving is a great day to suit up for urban superhero photos. Easier to fly around without all the crowds clamoring for a glimpse. Jacob and James are Flash and Son-of-Flash, Ellen is Bat Girl, Jayne is Ladybug Girl, Super Kitten--as himself, and Clark refuses to wear the silver Evil Alien mask.

Magic Kingdom is Still Magical

Yes, trip to Orlando sun in November for an Anderson family reunion. Ellen & James didn't know we were going until we arrived. Although, it took them a little to catch on, it is safe to say they would like to live there forever. Roller coasters, princesses, cousin swimming pool time, family catch up time. Good clean fun. Thank you Grandma & Grandpa Anderson!

Clark Mathieu Ekins

Clark Mathieu Ekins has landed! He gave everyone a scare when he tried to come out 'Clark Kent' style with both fists first but, with a little encouragement, he didn't. He touched down at 5:12 pm on Friday, July 16th, 2010 weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and marking out 20 inches. So far, he has been on the far side of mild and very sweet. Jayne is recovering well and both we're discharged Sunday morning. Ellen and James have been delighted with their first encounters. Parents Anderson have been essential in our transition to being out numbered for the 1st time (2 parents v. 3 kids). For those interested, Clark is Jayne's mother's great family name and Mathieu (pronounced 'match' with emphasis on the 'ch') is for a French Huguenot emigrant on my side. We'll give Clark his baby blessing at Church on the 1st Sunday in September; you're all welcome to attend!
